PARMA, Ohio — Folks over in Parma’s Polish Village neighborhood have come up with the most Parma idea ever for the vacant space formerly occupied by the historic Parma Theater.
Moderators of Parma’s Polish Village page on Facebook today announced plans to build a plastic flamingo petting zoo at the site of the now demolished theater.
Reaction to the proposal was met with enthusiasm from commenters who instantly recognized the post as an April Fool’s ruse.
“Yes, finally! Can’t wait to bring the kids” wrote commenter Alan Vondriska.
“Ghoulardi would have been so proud!” added Kathy Stieber.
The location has been the subject of discussion by the city’s board of zoning appeals throughout the month of March, as plans for a CVS Pharmacy make their way toward approval.
No word on which organization is backing the flamingo petting zoo proposal, but the Polish Village Facebook page indicated the zoo will be funded by “last year’s pierogi tax charged at various Polish Village businesses.”
